Season’s Greetings

I want to say thanks to all my sponsors for 2010 It was a good year of fishing. Without my sponsors it would have been tough. To everybody that has called me and booked a trip or just called for advice thank you. That’s what I love about fishing, that’s helping out others as well as teaching. Look for new and bigger things in 2011. Everyone have a great holiday season and enjoy being with family and friends. blessed to have the friends and family who support me in what I do. To all the new friends I have made this year, looking forward to seeing all you guys in the coming months at the tournaments. Remember to keep those lines tight and stay safe out there. June 20 and 21 Nickajack lake

Put in around 930 yesterday morning and it was already hot. Water wasclear and they were pulling current. Drove around until i found ledges and humps. Didnt find many fish on those so as the day went on i found grass in a bout 14 to 18 feet of water and was throwing a 3/8 ounce jig from vertical lures. Bayou craw color with a paca trailer. Pace trailer was green pumpkin. Working on the bottom in the grass real slow. Pulling it through grass and jerking off the bottom. Caught several good fish once i found the deep grass.
This morning i out in at 510 and went to find a good top water bite. Boy there was a great top water this morning. Air temp was 71 degrees and no breeze. I started out throwing and laser walker from laserlure.(laserlure.com) Color was spicy shad. Walking it like a spook. I had 7 really good quality fish. They were swallowing it after 2 twitches. One fish took it after it hit the water and was just sitting there. Everytime i came across laydowns in the water i was throwing a white and chartruese spinner bait from secret weapon.(secretweaponlures.com. Was bouncing it off limbs under water and pulled 3 great fish in the boat. I found that these fish in the morning were o fire on top water and as the day heats up fing grass in water from 12 to 18 feet down and throw a jig or texas rig worm or space monkey and work it slow and hang on. Until next time stay cool and drink plenty of water and gatorade or powerade to keep from dehydrating. Remember to wear those life vest’s and kill switches.

June 17 Nickajack lake

Sorry everybody that I haven’t blogged in awhile. Will try to keep up more often from here on out. Thursday evening was a really good day on the water. Put in about 6 and fished until around 915. Caught about 25 fish and they all werent short fish. The water temp was around 86 degree’s and I found rip rap walls with drop offs. The water was slightly on the murky side but good condition. I caught most of my fish on a spot remover with a space monkey from strike king. Colors being double header and green pumpkin red flake. Once the sun went down i switched to a black and blue jig with paca trailer. I also threw a black and blue tube from vertical lures.(check them out at verticallures.com As it got darkeri switched to a june bug sink and catch from deep creek lures, spot remover and texas rigged as well. Pitching into rocks and laydowns in about 10 to 14 feet of water. Will be out in the morning and will send a blog on how tomm morning goes. Until next time happy fishing and be safe on the water. Trooper Island News Release

(Albany, Ky.) — On Wednesday, June 16th J.W. ‘Coop’ Moreno of Hendersonville, Tennessee professional fisherman on the FLW and B.A.S.S. weekend tournament series spent the day at Trooper Island showing campers form the Henderson and Bowling Green Post areas different fishing techniques and interacting with the campers as they fished off the Trooper Island Dock. JW was a camper himself 28 years ago and wanted to come back and talk to campers and give them fishing tips. Prior to becoming a Professional Fisherman JW was a rodeo cowboy until an injury forced him to retire at which time he then began to work on his career as a professional fisherman. While here JW gave a fishing presentation to the campers and attended two of the fishing class giving instructions to the campers on how to fish with both live and artificial baits.
